- Administrator username and password
- Your printer/scanner on the same WiFi network
1. To add a printer to your Mac computer. Follow the steps below
1. Firstly ensure the printer is connected to the same WiFi network as your Mac. Or plugged with a cable directly into your Mac.
2. On your Mac, click the Apple icon > System Preferences > Printers & Scanners
3. If the above options are greyed out, go to the Self-Service app (Finder > Applications > Self-Service) and select the 'Admin on Demand' option to request admin access. Then go back to Printers & Scanners and click the padlock icon and enter your login details.
4. Then click the + button to add a printer, you should then see your printer pop up on the list of available printers. Then click Add!
5. Continue through the on screen instructions to add your printer.
6. Run a test print to ensure it's all working correctly!
2. To Remove a Printer from your Mac
1. Click Apple icon > System Preferences > Printers & Scanners
2. Click the padlock and enter Administrator username and password. Ask your IT person!
3. Select the printer you wish to add. Click the minus button to remove.

If you’ve already set up a printer that includes a scanner, you may be able to use its scanner features without any additional work. Select the printer in the list on the left (see below example) then click Scan.

4. Troubleshooting: Help! I can't see the printer I need to add.
Add a printer via IP Address
If you can't see the printer from the list in the steps above. Or you have problems when trying to print to a specific printer already added. It might be necessary to add the printer again but via it's IP address. This is a series of numbers like 192.168.xxx.xxx if you're unsure of the IP address you need.
Also, always ensure your printer and Mac are on the same WiFi network. Or directly plugged in to your Mac via a USB cable.
