1. Reset your Microsoft email password
2. Change your 2-factor authentication mobile number or 2FA contact methods.
Time to complete: 5-10 minutes
You will need:
Your email address
Your mobile phone
1. Reset your Microsoft email password
. On your Mac or PC, open a web browser (Chrome, Safari or Edge) and visit your company webmail (eg. if your email was bob@bobsburgers.com your webmail would be mail.bobsburgers.com) or visit portal.office365.com
2. Enter your email address and click Next
3. Click Forgot Password
4. Enter your User ID (your email address) and enter the characters in the picture you see. Click Next.
5. You'll then be asked to verify your identity with an SMS code sent to your mobile phone. Confirm the phone number to be used and click Text
6. Enter this code from your phone.
7. You'll then be able to set your new permanent password yourself. Easy peasy!
2. Change your 2-factor authentication mobile number or 2FA contact methods.
If you've changed phone numbers or devices and need to update your 2-factor number so that codes get sent to the correct number. Follow the steps below.
If you cannot access your old number anymore and are having problems signing-in, please contact your IT team and they can help you further.
1. Visit portal.office.com in a web browser and sign-in with your email address and password.
2. Click the top-right circle avatar icon and choose View Account
3. Then choose Security Info from the menu on the left.
3. Then from the listed entries, simply choose to either Change or Delete a 2-factor authentication method from the list of your added methods. You can also Add Method on this page, and use to link a new mobile number or mobile app to your account.
